LABTESTS AUCKLAND LTD – PROGRESS UPDATE

Labtests Auckland is committed to delivering a world class community laboratory service to the people of Auckland from July 2007. Since our last progress update we have been busy.

We are ahead of schedule in setting up the new service.

Achievements to date:

• The main laboratory will be at 37 – 41 Carbine Road, Mt Wellington

• Renovation of this building will commence shortly

• Labtests architects have finished the design concept phase

• Our building is well situated
- close to the motorway
- close to public transport
- close to Sylvia Park

• All major testing equipment has been selected including the computer hardware

• We have met with most PHOs and provided reassurances that the same level of service will be available after 1 July 2007. Some key points are:
- test reports will be delivered electronically
- pathologists in all areas will be available to provide you with clinical advice
- collection rooms and home collects will be available for your patients
- historical results will be retained and available
- regular education for GPs and practice nurses will be available

• Visits to individual GPs and group practices have commenced and will increase over the next 3 months

• The collection service is taking shape. Collection rooms are being identified and many applications from phlebotomy staff have been received

• Applications from staff at all levels wishing to join Labtests are being received at an increasing rate

• Labtests is planning for a seamless transition of services on 1 July 2007.

• This is your laboratory service from 1 July 2007. Be involved and help us make it a service of excellence.
