Why?

We are campaigning for the DHBs to engage us about this decision because we do not believe adequate consultation has taken place before awarding this contract.  They have taken a significant risk awarding this contract to a new provider.  This is a risk that we will have to bear, not them!

Community laboratory services are a vital diagnostic tool for doctors.   The accuracy, speed and reliability of these services heavily impacts patient welfare.  Our civil servants should make their decision based on quality and capability, not mostly price.

Price alone accounted for 50% of the proposal scoring, and this was the deciding factor.  Do you make half your health decisions based on price?  We maintain that the scoring system used did not reflect community values.

Diagnostic MedLab has done a wonderful job in Auckland for many years.  They are a reputable company providing a high quality service at a competitive price.  Why have the DHB committee awarded the contract to an unproven provider in this region whose only guarantee is a reduced service, for a reduced price?
